On the heavens with the designers
Away from the haphazard maze
We sometimes call earth.
Ah, "basement"? That is less artful,
Take me to your roof then,
And we'll watch the stars and glitter.
I'll take you to the skies
Up these steps ever so slowly.
It's quieter here, and you wonder -
If this is really heaven,
Why are there so few of us?
Glitzy handbags, bright halo rings
Perhaps only angels could afford heaven.
I may not really know why
But at least I have you
Here, by my side.
"Will you come to tea?" I asked.
"Here?" your eyes widened,
"In the middle out of nowhere?"
Yes here, with you. With me.
You love everything sweet,
You say that's why you are.
But your drink you disapproved
Heaven's "Fresh Strawberry Shake" -
They even call it fluffy! -
More like drinking from the clouds,
Light, with too small a tinge of sweetness.
One thing I had glowed -
The "Apricot and Blueberry Crumble",
I closed my eyes at the first spoonful.
"I'm in love", I smiled.
"Then you don't need a girlfriend",
She retorted in between a smile.
I smiled, then tucked back into heaven.
You did find your own little heaven,
A poetic slice of cake indeed.
"Vanilla Chiffon" so it went,
With thyme and lime, what a rhyme.
Then it was quiet for a while,
Only spoons and plates in a symphony -
I could tell, you like your cake.
Pleasant moments of sweetness
Make good afternoons.
As we walked away,
Away from this little spot of heaven
We saw a baby smile and laugh -
His first taste of cake.
We know how it feels.

September 21, 2009 at 8:50 PMWow! I am impressed that you chose a poetic and melancholic way of writing this food post. Very creative and refreshing. I love it!
September 23, 2009 at 8:24 PMOh, please keep it coming will ya?

Brad: Heh thanks! ;)
September 24, 2009 at 1:05 AMSparklette: Thank you Veron! Well i didn't mean it to be depressing though haha. I was "inspired" by 1) some of the black-and-white picts that I took, and 2) the fact that Ion is divided into the crazily messy basements and spacious (more expensive) upper levels. YOU keeping it coming too, love those food posts :)
nice entry! black & white shots are always so classy (:

September 25, 2009 at 12:00 AMThanks for the compliment, though I have to admit that the more I read the post the more I feel I'm so out of touch with my poetry-writing from college days haha!
