Ice Cream Chefs

17 March 2010

I know ice-cream purists would scoff at mix-in ice-creams but I for one do like such sweet, chunky and flavourful delights, and even more so when there's something chocolatey rolled inside. I used to adore Cold Rock Ice Creamery a lot but it is a little pricey (so is Marble Slab Creamery) so I kinda indulge in that only once in a while. The Easties in Singapore though do have something to cheer about, because Ice Cream Chefs is more reasonable priced and boasts some pretty interesting flavours as well.

Chippy Mint & Blue Berries with Maltesers

Of course, don't get too creative with your mixes. I think I made up an odd combination of mint chocolate, blue berries and chocolate Maltesers, and the final product turned out to be one of multiple, distinct flavours trying to outdo one another and vie for my attention.

Hersheys Chocolate & Pandan Kaya with Famous Amos Cookies

This combination by Jovin was a winner. I think it had a lot to do with the unique and delicious pandan kaya ice-cream that was really quite addictive and which went pretty well with its chocolate-flavoured counterpart. The simple cookies meanwhile provided that extra crunch to the otherwise smooth ice-cream.

Service
Very good.

Price
$3.10 for a small cup
$4.80 for a medium cup

"I know ice-cream purists would scoff at mix-in ice-creams..." hmm... I sense some kind of reference here. =P

Like seriously, can you even taste the individual flavors after all the mix-ins?

So how does durian eew + peanut butter + kaya ice cream + marshmallows & nutella mix-ins sound to you? Horrifying. :S

ice: haha. your combination really sounds horrifying! Disaster for those who doesn't eat durian!:P

harris: Despite all the mix-in ice-cream I've tried, I still prefer eating my scoop of ice-cream separately. Especially vanilla! *don't anyhow mix my lovely vanilla with weird flavours. LOL*

always a die-hard of kaya lotee + caramelised biscuits! :) Their fruity ones only go well with sweets like gummies.
