Dubai, UAE: Paul Patisserie

26 May 2010

Flying with Emirates was a pleasant experience. The food was good, the service was good, the seats were comfortable and the in-flight entertainment was not too bad. For long-haul flights, be prepared for a stopover at Dubai International Airport, which to me is actually a good thing since I get to stretch my legs and do some shopping and eating. The airport is pretty new and definitely has a modern feel and touch to it, and on second thoughts a lot of it actually resembles Changi Airport's Terminal 3.

You can imagine my delight when I chanced upon this chic-looking patisserie at one end of the transit area, and boy did all the tarts and cakes look delicious. I wish I had room for more, but I was indulging so much on the plane that I could only have room for one! Perhaps this could be one reason why I may fly Emirates again if given a choice? ;)

There's a splendid array of cakes, tarts, pastries and sandwiches indeed, and for that moment I wished I wasn't travelling alone because then I would have had the excuse of ordering more. Since I wanted my trip to get off on a sweet note, I decided on a "safe" choice - the chocolate tart.

Chocolate Tart

The Chocolate Tart was good, especially the smooth and thick chocolate that set me off on a chocolate high. I thought the crust or pastry layer was a little too hard though, but after a while I got used to it as a crunchy complement to the soft chocolate. The trip was off to a good start and boy was I feeling upbeat. Much more food lies ahead in Italy :)

loraine: the pastries look good right? i really wonder when i can visit dubai's airport again hahaha! but as i just saw from "oysterdiaries", seems i can easily get them in france too ;)

angeline: haha! they;re on their way! i'm not sure how mouth-watering they will be, considering i took the pictures hurriedly. usually when i'm on holiday it's more about enjoying hot food ;)

oysterdiaries: hoho! now i have reason to go to france! ;)

stargirl: yes, there's quite a few different things for you to eat in a single meal haha. i didn't take photos of emirates inflight food because those next to me were sleeping and i didn't want to use my camera flash, but I did get a picture of my (late) dinner on the flight home. that will be the last post in this whole series :)
