1 Caramel

24 July 2009

At least four food bloggers that I know have written about 1Caramel and since I was in the area I decided to drop by this little patiserrie with Daphne.

Chocolate Praline: 4.75/5

The both of us were a little full from lunch and so decided to share a slice, but in retrospect I thought we should have ordered the whole cake. It was that good.

While the cake was rich and smooth, it also had a light, crunchy base that I simply adored. It does reminds you of Nutella, Ferrero Rocher chocolates and chocolate mousse all at once. For a chocolate lover like me, this was simply delightful.

Service
Very good. Free iced water too.

Price
$9.30 inclusive of GST and service charge. I wonder if they would just charge $7.90 if you're getting a single slice on takeaway.

Place
6 Handy road, #01-01 The Luxe.
Just beside The Cathay.

For something different, don't miss out on their mango mascarpone... Quite like this place on my first visit. The glass display, the friendly staff, ample lighting and sofa seats make it so comfy for a cake or two :D

Yepas I heard (and read) about the mango mascarpone but decided to go for the hazelnut praline because I had a choc craving that day hahaha... Then again, I always have choc cravings...

Chocolate cravings? Most chocolate mousse cakes from hotel are good... Alternatively, I will drop by Max Brenner for a cup of Iced Dark Chocolate Granite...

And the best one, you definitely know about it... Fullerton Chocolate buffet!!!

Anyway, in Three-sixty market place at level 4 of ION, Valrhona Chocolate is making its appearance soon!!! Horray...

Ah yes I heard about Valrhona Choc coming... It's finally here when so many cafes have already been using its chocolates...

Did you pass by Ion's Royce store? The salespeople look like air steward and stewardess of Japan Airlines haha.

Yea, I did. Ion also has Nippon-Ya, nearly going to sweep the entire place... The stuff they have are so tempting...

But then again, the basement of Ion is so crowded, making food trips alittle tricky... Oh, the food are expensive, like 6 bucks for a crepe, 7 bucks for chocolate drink... hmm...

YES... The food hall is a bit too crowded to hang around and check things out, and it's quite overpriced as well. I didn't see anything impressive to be honest, other than the queue for the takopachi thingy.

The strawberry shortcake is a sure winner, every girl (and some guys) I've brought there, rave about the SSC. Some have become addicted too LOLX! I personally find PS Cafe cakes of a better deal but the SSC brings me back here.

I like both. Now that you said it, PS Cafe's choc cakes are definitely more "boyish" haha! :)
