Rich & Good Cake Shop

10 July 2009

Me and my family were walking around after our lunch at Sabar Menanti and chanced upon this small cake shop along the same row of shophouses. I went in to take a look and realised that there wasn't anything on display except for rows and rows of cake boxes in the refrigerator. The shop owners are friendly though, and they were more than willing to open up box after box of swiss roll cakes just to show us how the different flavours would look like.

Kaya Swiss Roll: 3.75/5

It may look really simple but it does taste good. The swiss roll was very soft and spongy while the kaya spread was sweet enough for me. I bought the chocolate siwss roll as well but it didn't taste as good as this kaya-flavoured one. For those wondering what exactly "kaya" is, it's a common local coconut jam made from coconut milk and eggs. I must say once again that it's really the simplicity of it all that won me over since the cake shop didn't try anything entirely creative. Instead, all it did was to make sure that the basics were done right.

Price
$5.50 - $7.50 per roll.

Place
24 Kandahar Street,
Near Sultan Mosque.

Try their coffee flavoured one! I like the way the solid cream taste out of the fridge.. And the blueberry one is good too!

You know, this is going to sound really cool because I just bought the coffee flavoured one hours ago and it's sitting pretty in my fridge. Now I can't wait to eat it heh ;)
